Grammy nomination for Sanlikol

Mehmet Ali SanlikolMehmet Ali Sanlikol, a well-respected pianist and faculty member in Performing Arts, has been nominated for a Grammy Award for his composition “Vecd,” which was included in an album released recently by A Far Cry, a Boston-based string orchestra.

“I’m extremely honored and proud,” Sanlikol said. “It feels to me like this nomination is a major step toward realizing my dream. This was part of my dream of becoming a respected composer when I was a young boy growing up in Bursa, Turkey, 25 years ago.”

“Dreams & Prayers,” the album by A Far Cry, was nominated in the category of Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance.

Sanlikol teaches a course on perspectives in world music at Emerson. He also teaches at the College of the Holy Cross and is a fellow at Harvard University’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies.
