Hundreds expected for Alumni Weekend 2014

Emerson’s campus will come alive May 30–June 1 as alumni, friends, and families from around the world reunite at Alumni Weekend 2014. More than 500 people are expected to attend.

This year’s activities include:

•       The Alumni Weekend Boat Cruise around Boston Harbor on Friday, May 30, featuring a DJ, photobooth, light appetizers, and a cash bar.
•       The 6th Annual WERS Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday, May 31, celebrates this year’s inductees: Gary Krantz ’81, president/CEO of Krantz Media Group; Florence Markoff ’37, longtime radio personality; Chet Tart ’74, vice president/general manager of WSVU Radio in Florida; and Jacquie Gales Webb ’77, host of Sunday Afternoon Gospel on WHUR.
•       The Reunion Celebration and Showcase featuring the 2014 Distinguished Alumni Awards on May 31. Enjoy the spectacular talent of Emerson through student, alumni, and faculty performances at the Paramount Center, where the showcase will honor 45 years of the College’s Musical Theatre Society and Professor Emeritus Leo Nickole. Read about the recipients of the 2014 Distinguished Alumni Awards: diversity leader Tisa Jackson ’95, Emmy Award–winning film and television music editor David Klotz ’94, award–winning reality TV producer Tara Sandler ’84, and Tony and Grammy–winning music writer Scott Wittman ’76. The 2014 Young Alumni Achievement Award Recipients are Tony Award–winning producer Jason E. Grossman ’02 and Shira Lazar ’04, host of What’s Trending.

Class reunions for those who graduated in years ending in four or nine will be celebrated throughout the weekend.

Other weekend milestones include:

•       The 65th anniversary of WERS-FM
•       The 45th anniversary of EBONI
•       The 35th anniversary of Sigma Pi Theta
