Inclusive Excellent Summit held

Emerson’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion held the College’s first all-day Inclusive Excellence Summit for faculty, staff, and students on Friday, November 22, at the Bordy Theater.

Participants were split into groups to tackle questions at the beginning of the summit. The questions related to how Emerson could improve access and success; an inclusive campus; teaching, learning and scholarship; local and global engagement; and recognition and accountability.

The summit also examined how College offices and departments can process, evaluate, and implement inclusive excellence goals.

President Lee Pelton shared remarks at the beginning of the summit, which was facilitated by Sylvia Spears, vice president of diversity and inclusion; and Abu Bakr, diversity and inclusion consultant who oversees diversity and equality initiatives at the University of Rhode Island as an interim associate vice president.
