The Emerson Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs
continue the Midnight Madness tradition on Columbus Day, Monday, October 14, at 10:30 pm in the
Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gymnasium in Piano Row.

The Lions are showcasing both programs as they head into their inaugural NEWMAC
season by welcoming the Emerson community for a night of
fun.

“We’re happy to be re-introducing Midnight Madness,” said Jim O’Brien, head coach of the Men’s Basketball program. “It’s a great thing to kick
off the season with both teams, but it’s also an opportunity to connect
with the student body. Any opportunity we get to interact more with the
Emerson community is a positive thing for the programs.”

In addition to a showcase of the teams' skills, the event will include free
custom T-shirts for the first 200 fans, food, a DJ, an MC, a contest for the
most spirited Emerson fan, and a dunk contest.

“This is a great occasion for exposure for our programs,” said Bill
Gould, head coach of the Women’s Basketball program. “The students are
really excited, and when we hosted it a couple of years ago, the enthusiasm
of the student body was a huge positive influence on the teams. To see the
Emerson community rally around us is something that echoed throughout
the season as well.”

The Men’s and Women’s programs will hit the home hardwood with tip-off
tournaments November 15–17 at Emerson’s gym.
