EVVY Awards features Bill Burr ’93
The 32nd annual EVVY Awards will spotlight comedy this Friday, May 10, at the Cutler Majestic Theatre, by bestowing an award to Bill Burr ’93, the stand-up comedian and actor well known for his appearances on Chappelle’s Show, Comedy Central Presents, and Breaking Bad.
Burr is receiving the Alumni Award of Distinction, which will be presented by a previous winner, comedian Steven Wright ’78, during the sold-out awards show.
This year’s hosts are Jeff Mitchell ’13, a Theatre Education major from Wakefield, Massachusetts, and Lilliana Winkworth ’13, an Acting major from Los Angeles.
Students receive EVVY Awards based on excellence in a range of creative topics, including journalism, marketing, writing, acting, digital media, theater performance, television and film.
A full list of student nominees can be found on the EVVYs website.
This year’s show features musical and comedic performances from the Shakespearean Jazz Show, The Girlie Project, Chocolate Cake City, and Jimmy’s Traveling All-Stars.
The EVVY Awards is like no other college production in the country. Modeled after professional shows such as the EMMYs and the Oscars, the EVVY Awards is the largest student-produced, multi-camera, live switch event in the nation. It is nationally recognized and has received a first place award from the National Association of College Broadcasters and received two national Telly Awards.
