Pelton and colleagues pledge debate and dialogue on gun violence

An Inside Higher Ed story shares Emerson President Lee Pelton’s and colleagues’ support of President Obama’s initiative to curb gun violence. Pelton sent an email on the afternoon of Monday, December 17 to presidents at colleges and universities nationwide to support a letter to President Obama that pledges their commitment to help the President’s effort in preventing more tragedies like what took place at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT. In less than 48 hours, 150 college and university presidents expressed their support.

Simultaneously, presidents at Agnes Scott College and Oglethorpe University initiated an open letter to policy makers calling on specific gun control measures
