Emerson gives back this Veterans Day

Emerson Action Day, a day when members of the Emerson community come together and lend a helping hand, will take place Monday, November 12 (Veterans Day), throughout the city of Boston.   

Emersonians will provide a wide range of services from feeding meals to the homeless, to organizing items for an afterschool program, to playing Family Feud with the elderly. Volunteers will work at the following sites: Hale House, Rosie’s Place, St. Francis House, Women’s Lunch Place, Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Boston Rescue Mission, Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center, and Operation Appreciation (on campus).

“There are so many members of the Emerson community who are passionate about serving the community in which they live,” said Off-Campus Student Services Assistant Director Steven Martin. “We have lots of students, faculty, and staff who are volunteering in many areas around the city. Emerson Action Day is a chance for the Emerson community to come together and do volunteer work as a collective unit. I would encourage the community to participate because it’s a great way to give back to the community that gives so much to our urban campus. You will also get the opportunity to meet others who are passionate about community engagement,” Martin added.
