Bobbi Brown ’79 is "Mogul Next Door"

The New York Times recently profiled Emerson Trustee and alumna Bobbi Brown ’79, who is CEO of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. The article describes Brown as a hardworking and down-to-earth “mogul.”

A world-renowned makeup artist and cosmetics industry entrepreneur, Brown has written five beauty and lifestyle books and appears on television regularly to do how-to segments. President Obama appointed her to the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations in 2010. She studied theatrical makeup at Emerson and founded her company in 1991.

Brown and her husband Steven Plofker, who is also featured in the article, funded both the Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Design Technology and Makeup Suite and the Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gym at Emerson.
