Emerson participates in Earth Hour 2011

Emerson College invites you to turn out your lights this Saturday night. For one hour, join hundreds of millions of people across the globe by simply turning off nonessential lights and electronic devices from 8:30 to 9:30 pm in honor of Earth Hour 2011.

Of course, Earth Hour is symbolic: we encourage you to conserve energy year-round. In fact, President Liebergott has established a Sustainability Committee composed of student, faculty, and staff representatives. The committee meets regularly to explore ways in which Emerson can reduce its carbon footprint and protect the environment.

Earth Hour is an annual event organized by the World Wildlife Fund to raise awareness about the need for action to protect the environment. If you join us, you will not be the only one in the dark. City of Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, thousands of businesses, and more than 400 cities around the world have pledged to turn off lights during Earth Hour.
