Shaw to Return to Cambodia to Continue Work on Film
In her film project Angkor's Children, Visual and Media Arts Associate Professor Lauren Shaw follows young Cambodians through their struggles to create a fresh start and better their country’s future.
“This story is about the post-genocide generation,” Shaw said. “It’s about their need to tell the world they are more than just a country of tears. It’s a country of hope.”
Shaw was recently awarded a LEF Foundation grant of $5,000 to help finish her pre-production on Angkor's Children.

LEF Foundation grants are awarded to independent documentary filmmakers who demonstrate excellence in technique, strong storytelling ability, and originality of artistic vision and voice.
Shaw says that because of the genocide, 50 percent of the population currently in Cambodia is under the age of 21. In Angkor's Children, she hopes to capture their spirit and showcase the work they are doing to support their country.
Shaw returns to Cambodia this December to continue working on the film.
