D’Andrea Named to ESPN: The Magazine Academic All-District First Team

Not only did Lindsay D’Andrea ’11 lead the 2010 Emerson Women’s Soccer team with 10 goals and 8 assists, but the Writing, Literature and Publishing major is also a member of the Gold Key Honor Society, has been nominated for an Associated Writing Program award, and is the Treasurer of Emerson’s Stork Magazine. So it comes as no surprise that D’Andrea was recently named to the 2010 ESPN: The Magazine Academic All-District first team.

D’Andrea is the first Emerson College female, and only the third Emerson student-athlete overall, to make the Academic All-America Ballot. Rob Hennigan ’04 and Ben Chase ’08 from Emerson’s Men’s Basketball program were each chosen as Academic All-Americas after their inclusion on the national ballot. A three-time Great Northeast Athletic Conference All-Star, D’Andrea was an Eastern College Athletic Conference All-New England selection in 2009 when she scored 19 goals and had 9 assists. In her career she had 49 goals and 24 assists for 122 points. She also scored 10 game–winning goals over her four years.

Emerson is located in District One, a district which includes the New England states, New York State, and the Canadian maritime provinces. The CoSIDA/ESPN: The Magazine Academic All-America program started in 1952, and recognizes the achievements of student-athletes both on the field and in the classroom. To qualify for nomination, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore status, be a starter or important reserve, and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or better.
