Ted Gup Walks The Walk

Emerson Journalism Department Chair and well-known investigative journalist Ted Gup worked in the field for many years before beginning his career in academia.

Gup wrote for Time magazine and the Washington Post (where he was a Pulitzer Prize finalist) before joining the journalism department at Case Western Reserve University, where he taught for 10 years.

Now at Emerson, Gup continues to freelance for publications such as The New York Times, Smithsonian magazine, and The Chronicle of Higher Education. We sat down with him to talk about his teaching philosophy and goals for his journalism students. He tells us that his work outside the classroom enriches his students’ experience inside the classroom.
