Roger Crosley bound for CoSIDA Hall of Fame

Roger Crosley, Emerson’s coordinator of athletic operations, has been chosen as an inductee of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Hall of Fame.

Seven current or former sports communication professionals will be inducted into the CoSIDA Hall of Fame at the organization’s national convention in San Francisco July 4–7.

“I probably have not had more respect for anyone than for Roger Crosley for his commitment and dedication to the student-athletes at his university. It began at MIT, and now at Emerson; and I was overwhelmed at the amount of work he is able to do. MIT once had the most sports of any university in the country and he did it as a staff of one,” said Ed Carpenter, assistant director of athletics at Boston University and a fellow CoSIDA Hall of Famer.

Crosley served as director of sports information and communications at MIT from 1986 through 2003. He has been the New England Football Conference publicity director since 1999 and was the secretary/treasurer for the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC). He also served five years as the ECFC information director. He is a former member of the Division III Football All-America selection committee, and is the New England Football Writers All-New England Division II/III Football Team selection committee chair. Crosley has also served as treasurer of the Eastern College Athletic Conference-Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA) since 1987.

His contributions to the world of collegiate sports have not gone unrecognized. In 1997, he won the Irving T. Marsh Award, given by ECAC-SIDA for dedication and contributions to, and excellence in, the field of collegiate sports information. In 1999, he was honored with the Elmore “Scoop” Hudgens Award by the All-American Football Foundation, for lifetime contributions to college football. Last year, he received the Mastersports Jack Grinold SID/Media Award for contributions to college football as an SID/Media member.
