Recognized in Fall 2006, Undergraduate Students for Publishing’s purpose is to educate Emerson undergraduates about publishing careers in a variety of ways. To get involved sign up for our email list!
The club hosts panels of professionals to speak about their specific jobs and advise students on how to start their own careers in publishing. In addition to this, the executive members host events to teach members publishing vocabulary, share their experiences, give them resources on the publishing world, and generally keep them aware of the current events of the business.
The club also houses an imprint, Wilde Press, which publishes two student-written manuscripts every semester and functions as closely to a real-world house in order to teach students how editorial, copyediting, design, marketing, and digital function through hands-on application. Everyone is invited to work on these projects regardless of prior experience.
In addition to Wilde Press, Pub Club also runs a genre-only fiction magazine called Generic Mag and a blog about all things books. These both serve as great ways for students to get involved in the publishing process beyond Wilde Press’s book projects.
