Occult October Week 3: Flying Witch

Join Anime@Emerson in the Cultural Center on Friday, October 20th for our third screening of Occult October! Our screening for the week is Flying Witch, which will be followed by a group discussion.

Open Positions:
President: Delegates tasks to Eboard members to ensure they are performing their duties, Serves as the primary contact between Anime@Emerson and other relevant groups (SEAL, SGA, Advisor, Anime Boston Customer Service Representative), Monitors the Anime@Emerson Discord, Oversees weekly Eboard meetings
Vice President: Assists the President with their duties, Creates events for Anime@Emerson on EmConnect, Supports Eboard members with their tasks when necessary, Steps into the role of President when they are absent
Secretary: Takes minutes during weekly Eboard meetings, Takes attendance at meetings and events, Sends weekly newsletters and any additional emails
Treasurer: Fills out forms that involve the circulation of Anime@Emerson’s money (purchase requests, reimbursements, annual budget request), Purchases catering for events when necessary, Keeps a ledger of club expenses, Keeps track of Anime@Emerson’s budget to ensure that there is no overspending
Screening Heads (Up to 3 people): Create presentations for the weekly screenings, Facilitate pitch discussions about monthly themes during Eboard meetings, Watch screenings in advance of meetings to create a list of potential content and trigger warnings, Work with the other Screening Heads to divvy up work and create discussion questions
 
What is Anime@Emerson?
Anime@Emerson is Emerson’s only anime club! We meet every Friday in the Cultural Center at 8 pm to watch the first three episodes of whatever anime we are screening for the week. These screenings are followed by discussion questions, which we all take the time to consider. We carefully choose each of our weekly screenings according to a monthly theme. For example, this month’s theme is Occult October so we are watching spooky and scary animes for the month of October!
 
About this Week’s Screening: Flying Witch
Aomori, Japan
In a land blessed by nature’s bountiful beauty, bizarre things begin to take place. Makoto Kowata, 15 years old, is a professional witch. She left Yokohama with Chito, her black cat, to live in the house of her relatives in Aomori. This is where she begins to train as a witch.
Even though Makoto’s powers are still limited to just flying through the sky, she and her second cousins Kei and Chinatsu surely make the most out of each and every day.
