Virtual Inclusive Book Campaign for Boston Public High School

April 1 @ 8:00 am - June 30 @ 5:00 pm

On the Same Page is an inclusive book campaign created and run by Emerson College students enrolled in the Nonprofit Fundraising Campaigns course. Social justice and equity in reading material is the reason this campaign was created. We believe that “Everyone deserves the opportunity to be part of a story.”

You can help this campaign achieve its goal to send 200 inclusive books to New Mission High School in Boston. To donate a book, view the list of diverse books on the Amazon wish list  created by the teachers and students at NMHS. The books will be sent directly to the school. The impact is both immediate and ongoing – allowing generations of children to see themselves in stories. Representation matters in literature.

We are excited to partner with this year’s recipient, New Mission High School, to bring inclusive books to their students in grades 7-12. Research shows “only 13 percent of children’s books published in the last 24 years contain multicultural content” (Lee & Low Books 2017) and “90 percent report that when kids see themselves in books, they are far more likely to be enthusiastic readers.” (Scholastic Blog).
