Inside the Grace and Grit of Douaihy’s New Queer Noir: Thriller Thursday
Writing, Literature & Publishing Assistant Professor Margot Douaihy’s new book, Divine Ruin, is being released on January 13. This is the third installment of her best-selling Sister Holiday Mystery series.
The book has drawn critical acclaim from Kirkus, The Times (London), and New York Times bestselling author Gillian Flynn.
Douaihy spoke with Greg Wands for Thriller Thursday about grace, grit, and the queer noir revolution. Wands asked Douaihy about how the main character, Sister Holiday—a tattooed, chain-smoking, queer nun-sleuth—came to be.
“I wanted to write a bridge between the brio of the hardboiled loner-bastard and the queer and intersectional sleuths who seemed to remake the genre on their own terms.”
