Raynauld on Kraft’s Mayoral Campaign Messaging: Globe

Communication Studies associate professor and political communication expert Vincent Raynauld says Boston mayoral candidate Josh Kraft needs a “complete rethink” of his campaign, in which he lags far behind Mayor Michelle Wu after preliminary election results are in.

The message is simply not going through. It’s not connecting with the public.

In particular, Raynauld said, Kraft needs to address “the elephant in the room”: his last name. His father’s ties to Trump, as well as his privileged background, have proven to be political liabilities; Kraft needs to address the issue head-on and put some distance between himself and his father, Raynauld said.
