Student Affairs Leadership Update
Dear campus community,
After the completion of a highly competitive national search, I am pleased to announce that Christie Anglade, a nationally recognized student affairs professional who has been leading Emerson’s Division of Campus Life on an interim basis, has accepted my offer to serve as our next permanent Vice President, Student Affairs, effective December 15, 2024.
I am deeply grateful for the hard work and dedication of the search committee, led by Provost Alex Socarides and supported by Witt/Kieffer, and to everyone who participated in and supported this successful search.
As Vice President, Christie will continue to provide outstanding leadership for Emerson’s student-centered functions, overseeing a large staff and portfolio focused on supporting our students’ experience, growth, and wellbeing. She will also work closely with me, the President’s Council, and campus partners to strengthen student engagement and foster a welcoming and inclusive campus.
Christie joined Emerson in 2019 as Director, Housing and Residential Education (HRE). In 2023, she became Associate Dean, Campus Life, overseeing HRE, Community Standards, and Student Engagement and Leadership. Since her appointment as interim Vice President and Dean in July 2024, she has been instrumental in supporting our students through initiatives like EmersonTogether and the opening of the fitness center, fostering connection, resilience, and opportunities for strengthening our campus community.
Prior to arriving at Emerson, Christie worked in student affairs and campus life at Bentley University, Boston College, Michigan State University, and the University of New Haven. She holds an M.Ed. in higher education and student affairs administration from the University of South Carolina and a BA in psychology from Western New England University.
“I am deeply honored to continue serving this incredible community that I have come to cherish and truly call home,” Christie said. “Emerson is filled with talented students, faculty, and staff who inspire me every day with their creativity, passion, and commitment to making a difference. Together, we will work to strengthen our community, ensuring it is a place where everyone feels supported, valued, and empowered to thrive. I am excited to continue building connections and creating opportunities that reflect the heart and soul of Emerson.”
Please join me in congratulating Christie on her upcoming appointment and thanking her for her strong and consistent leadership over the past several months.
Sincerely,
Jay M. Bernhardt
President
