Next Steps for EmersonTogether
To the Emerson community,
We are excited to see how the EmersonTogether initiative has developed over the course of the fall, through your participation in the events hosted so far and in the community offerings coming forward.
EmersonTogether’s Content Team and Capacity Team continue to co-create a variety of events that build on our collective strengths, both by creating new events and by developing partnerships to co-host existing opportunities in order to engage through this community-building lens.
Each of these events aligns with EmersonTogether’s purpose of affirming shared values, creating opportunities to engage with one another meaningfully, and inviting us all to help build the culture we want to experience at our College.
Please remember that anyone can suggest an event for EmersonTogether! Just reach out to emersontogether@emerson.edu. No matter the circumstance, what matters most is that we foster respect and understanding for the people who make Emerson so special.
Thank you so much to the hundreds of faculty, staff, and students who have joined recent events:
- On September 6, EmersonTogether hosted a community conversation, the first EmersonTogether event following the announcement of the initiative. Approximately 150 students, staff, and faculty gathered to discuss issues important to the community.
- On October 15, the School of the Arts and EmersonTogether held a “Working Session and Faculty Dialogue on Institutional Neutrality.” Faculty worked in groups to discuss the new Institutional Neutrality and Mutual Respect policy and engaged in a Q&A with Dean Eichhorn and Provost Socarides on the nuances of the policy’s language and how it functions in application. Academic Affairs in working on a FAQ that will reflect some of the discussion items of this working session.
- On October 16, the “Can We Talk?” series came to Emerson. The event featured Penn Badgley and Dr. Nura Mowzoon, combining Badgley’s media insights and Mowzoon’s relationship expertise. This was an engaging conversation about relationships, open dialogue, and engaging across different perspectives.
