Community Health Updates

Dear Emerson Community,

As we wrap up the semester, we’re reaching out to provide updates on the latest respiratory virus protection recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH). Please take a few moments of your time to review these updates.  Here is how Emerson College is aligning with these guidelines.

Respiratory Illnesses & Testing

Updates: People who test positive for COVID-19 are no longer required to isolate for five days. However if you become sick with COVID-19 or any respiratory virus, stay home and away from others. Treatments are available for COVID-19 and the flu, which can help reduce symptoms and the risk of severe illness. Only return to normal activities when symptoms have improved for at least 24 hours and any fever has gone without using fever-reducing medication. Emerson College no longer requires students to complete the COVID-19 Self Reporting Form.

Support: Students with respiratory symptoms may contact Health Services for advice or medical care. Appointments are available both in-person or telehealth. Call 617-824-8666 or book through the Student Health Portal. Staff and faculty with respiratory symptoms should seek medical guidance from their primary care provider as needed. 

Masking: The College will maintain its optional masking policy with the exception of the Emerson Wellness Center, where masking will be required. 

Vaccination Clinics: Emerson Wellness Center will continue to offer vaccine clinics to the college community next fall. Further details about the clinic dates and times will be communicated at a later date. 

Staying Well: Take time to rest, stay hydrated, use over-the-counter medications as needed, prioritize good hand hygiene, eat healthy foods, and try to manage stress levels.
