Journalism professor Paul Mihailidis weighed in for a Stateline article examining media literacy education integration in public schools in the U.S. Five states currently have laws requiring it.

Mihailidis says in this political climate, it’s complicated.

It’s not a very apolitical thing. When you teach people how to spot disinformation and how to navigate different online spaces, inevitably that wades into people looking at certain content one way and certain content another way.
