Religious & Cultural Gatherings: Jewish and Muslim Communities
The Center for Spiritual Life, Campus Life, and Social Justice Collaborative invite our Jewish and our Muslim community members to gatherings for community and solace in the midst of tragedies in the Middle East.
These gatherings are for individuals who identify as Jewish or Muslim within their religious and/or cultural communities. They are intended for community space, not education or training. The College is working on an educational program that will be provided later this spring where we can all engage in discussions about the tragedies unfolding before us.
Many Emersonians have expressed how they have been impacted by the conflict between Israel and Hamas and the uptick in Islamophobia, xenophobia, and Anti-Semitism. With the support of President Bernhardt, these gatherings provide space for solace and reflection, and will be facilitated by staff from Spiritual Life and the Social Justice Collaborative.
Kosher food will be provided for the in-person Jewish community meetings, and Halal food will be provided for the in-person Muslim community meetings. We are asking for RSVP’s to ensure food and beverages for the in person gatherings, and contact information for the virtual gathering Zoom links.
