Community Health Update: January 2024

Dear Emerson Community,

Welcome back to campus! We hope you had a restful and enjoyable winter break and are ready for the new semester ahead. As we begin the new year, we want to take a moment to acknowledge the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases and other respiratory illnesses nationwide. Please rest assured that the health and safety of our campus community remain our top priority.

Vaccine Clinic:

We are pleased to announce that a vaccine clinic will be held on January 24th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Emerson Wellness Center, located at 216 Tremont St, 3rd Floor. This clinic will provide an opportunity for members of our community to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, among other vaccines offered that day. We strongly encourage all eligible individuals to take advantage of this opportunity to protect themselves and others. Please scan the provided QR code on the flyer attached to this email or visit the Vaccine Clinic Registration  to book your appointment. Please remember to bring your health insurance card with you on the day of the clinic.

Hygiene Practices:

We encourage everyone to continue frequent handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after being in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands, and cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your elbow when you cough or sneeze.

Masking:

The College will continue its optional masking policy, except at the Emerson Wellness Center (Health and Counseling Services), where masking will be required until January 30th. This measure is to ensure the safety of all individuals, especially those seeking medical attention.

Testing

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to obtain their own supply of rapid antigen tests for their use. Health Services can assist students who are having difficulties or can’t perform an antigen test themselves. Please be advised that Health Services is open and able to see students who have tested positive for COVID-19 and may develop worsening symptoms. Visits may be in-person or via Telehealth. Please email healthservices@emerson.edu or call 617-824-8666 to request assistance. Students who test positive are encouraged to report this information to Health Services by completing the COVID-19 Self-Report Form.

Employees should consult with their primary care providers about testing if they develop symptoms or have concerns that they may have contracted COVID-19. If you test positive for COVID-19, please follow the CDC guidance for isolation. You do not need to report this to HR.

For general questions regarding COVID-19, please email covid19@emerson.edu. If you are a student studying at Emerson Los Angeles, please contact emersonla@emerson.edu. If you are a student studying at Kasteel Well, Netherlands please contact castle@emerson.edu.

Stay well,
Emerson Wellness Center
