Alums Inspire, Dish Details on New Season of ‘Making It Big’ Podcast
Guests on the fifth season of the Emerson Alumni Relations’ Making It Big in 30 Minutes podcast are wise, funny, inspiring – and, of course, Emersonians.
Now available on emerson.edu (or wherever you get your podcasts), Georgette Pierre, MA ’09 hosts eight episodes featuring nine alums, including:
Zach Kornfeld ’12: Part of the popular YouTube channel turned multi-media franchise, The Try Guys. Kornfeld talks about going viral, the power of collaboration, and the importance of detaching your creative output from your self-worth.
Pamela Zapata ’09 : CEO and Founder of Society 18, (and Pierre’s supervisor at WERS more than a decade ago). The two catch up and talk about training a team remotely, finding the confidence to negotiate your salary, and more.
David Yoon, MFA ’00: He says he tells lies for a living, and has four different books on bookshelves. Yoon works with his wife, Nicola, who he met at Emerson, to help other writers of color tell love stories for their imprint, Joy Revolution. On the podcast, Yoon talks about the importance of taking a break, rejection, and being your own boss.
For the first-time ever, Making It Big featured a duo with Dominique Bañas ’13 and Quinn Marcus ’13. They became friends at Emerson and took their friendship from Boylston Street to Sunset Boulevard. They talk about making a travel-dating show together, discuss inspiration versus comparison, how to keep your creative fire lit, and more.
Making It Big is produced by Kayla Carcone ’19; Rebecca Glucklich, associate director of alumni relations; and edited by Dalton Pate ’20.
All seasons of Making It Big in 30 Minutes can be listened to on emerson.edu.
