Emerson Alumni Board Welcomes Four New Members

Four new Emerson graduates were named to the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association of Emerson College, collectively bringing decades of experience in public relations/communications, personal finance education, marketing, and broadcast news to the board.

The Alumni Association “fosters and maintains the spirit and devotion of alumni in an effort to promote the reputation and growth of the College.”

Sean Horrigan ’91, MA ’99

Sean Horrigan ‘91, MA ‘99 is director of communications for the Rappaport Foundation and principal of PR Guy, a public relations, social media, and event planning consultancy.

With more than 20 years of public relations and brand building experience, Horrigan has directed product launches, media campaigns, and events for clients ranging from start-ups to internationally recognized brands. Clients have included Showtime Networks, ESPN, Wheaton College, Lifetime Entertainment, HRC, and Commonwealth Shakespeare Company. Sean holds a BS in Mass Communication and an MA in Marketing Communications from Emerson College. 

A podcaster, webinar host, and actor, Sean enjoys travel, theater, cooking, and CrossFit.

Catie Hogan ’09

Catie Hogan ‘09 is head of curriculum and the founding coach at Parthean, a personal finance education company. Previously, she was an associate at Element Financial Group, and the founder of Hogan Financial Planning, where she focused on the planning needs of those in arts, entertainment, and tech.

Hogan is also an award-winning comedy writer and occasional performer. She’s written two humorous personal finance books, performed a TEDx Talk on using humor in financial education, and is a longtime writer with the theatre group Sketchworks Comedy. She also serves on the board of Performing Arts Education of Georgia.

While at Emerson, Hogan served as captain of the Emerson softball team, winning conference championships and earning bids to the NCAA tournament in both her 2007 and 2009 seasons.

Fernando Febres ’12

Fernando Febres ‘12 is a marketing and business executive at L’Oréal USA with over 10 years of experience working at Fortune 500 companies such as L’Oréal, Nestlé, and General Mills. He has worked to influence multi-million-dollar household brands such as L’Oreal Paris, Nesquik, Cheerios, Nature Valley, and more with his expertise in advertising, brand management, sales, and business development.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Febres has lived in Boston, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and New York City, throughout his college and professional career. Fernando graduated from Emerson in 2012 with a BS in Marketing Communication.

Norman Oliver Jr. ’16

Norman Oliver Jr. ‘16 has been a journalist at CBS National News in New York since 2017. He got his start with the network at the award-winning CBS News Radio Network, where he worked on daily newscasts and breaking news. He then went on to work for the CBS Evening News, where he produced all voice overs and the headlines segment for the historic evening newscast.

He currently works in the affiliate relations sector of CBS News, where he oversees the promotion of network correspondents and stories on local CBS affiliate newscasts. His main focuses are award-winning shows 48 Hours and Face the Nation. He graduated from Emerson College with a degree in Journalism in 2016.
