Cook on Chris Rock Performances at Wilbur Theatre: NBC Boston, WCVB
Professor and founding director of the Center for Comedic Arts Martie Cook weighed in on comedian Chris Rock’s first comedy show after the Academy Awards last week, in which nominee Will Smith slapped him onstage after a joke about Smith’s wife.
Rock will perform six sold-out shows over the next few days in town, kicking off his comedy tour.
Cook on whether or not Rock will address the incident:
I can see it going either way; I think maybe he doesn’t want to keep putting the spotlight on it, or maybe he will make a joke [about it] but a light joke.
Cook also spoke to local outlet WCVB about the Oscars drama, saying it was a “regrettable but teachable moment.”
