Comm Studies Class Runs Book Drive for Elementary School: WBZ

Communications Studies Senior Executive-in-Residence Cathryn Edelstein’s nonprofit fundraising class created a book drive for nonprofit On The Same Page to help build a library at the Thomas Edison K-8 School in Brighton.

Edelstein said that more than 40 percent of Boston Public School students do not have a library in their schools, and the Edison was one of those schools

“Students enrolled in my Nonprofit Fundraising Course are blazing a new trail. On the Same Page Boston is now focusing on Boston Public Schools that don’t have libraries,” said Edelstein to Emerson Today. “School libraries provide students a place to explore interests, gain knowledge, and nurture literacy development.”

Edelstein’s class helped deliver 300 new diverse and inclusive books to the school.
