COVID Update: Positive Cases

Dear students, faculty, and staff,

As we mark the end of the Fall 2021 academic term and the Emerson community prepares to  leave campus for the winter break, we are writing to update you on a recent increase of COVID-19 positive cases on the Boston campus. This increase will be reflected on today’s COVID-19 dashboard. At this time, we have 49 active cases of COVID-19 within the Emerson community.

The contact tracing process is working and we are reaching out to all those identified as close contacts, and as of this message, we are aware of only one cluster of related cases, which resulted from social interactions. We remain pleased that there has yet to be any confirmed classroom transmission to date.

What this increase means for our community is that we all must remain vigilant and cautious as we enter the winter break period, no matter where we are. The most important things to remember are:

  • Wear a high quality mask when out in public and crowded spaces (or avoid crowded places altogether).
  • Pay attention to any symptoms and report them to your primary care provider immediately.
  • Get your COVID-19 booster as soon as you are eligible, as studies have shown it will increase vaccine efficacy.

As always, we will continue to provide significant updates to the community in the coming days and weeks.

Thank you and be well,
Erik Muurisepp
