Lee on Ted Lasso Positivity and Success: Christian Science Monitor

Visual and Media Arts assistant professor and screenwriter Ed Lee contributed to an article written about the Apple TV+ comedy Ted Lasso, which returned for its second season this month and is nominated for 20 Emmy awards.

The show is lauded for its unconventional comedic approach, emphasizing the kindness and positivity of the character Ted Lasso, without the usual cynicism comedies often feature.

It has a tone that is very rare on American television, or British television, for that matter, in that it is positive and hopeful without seeming saccharine or unrealistic. Many shows would take a character like that through the story machinations of a cynical world in order to either prove that people are cynical, or prove that the world is too cynical for a man like Ted Lasso.
