Pak’s ‘Clytaemnestra’ Reviewed by The New Yorker

The New Yorker reviewed Visual and Media Arts Assistant Professor Ougie Pak‘s latest feature film, Clytaemnestra, which is being screened online as part of this year’s BAMCinemaFest June 23-30.

The film explores the dynamics within a theatre troupe when a difficult director brings on a famous actress to a production of Aeschylus’ Agamemnon.

“Pak, working with a minimal crew, deftly sketches both the intimate passions and the perversions of power that emerge in the theatrical hothouse—even as he thrills to the actors’ grandly stylized classicism amid their daily banalities,” Richard Brody writes.
