Emerson is celebrating Pride Month this year by offering a number of virtual events such as drag bingo and a coming out story slam, and the creation of a new fund that serves our LGBTQIA+ community.

The Emerson Pride Fund will aid the people, programs, and organizations that support Emerson’s LGBTQIA+ community, fostering a safe, secure, and welcoming environment.

“The goal of our work in the alumni office is to celebrate, uplift, and support not only our alumni, but the entire Emerson community,” said Anna Biller, director of annual giving.

“The Pride Campaign was conceptualized by three alumni on the engagement and giving teams, all of whom identify as queer. We’re constantly searching for the special things that are going to inspire our community to participate, engage, and give back. Celebrating Pride feels authentic to what Emerson is — a place that is safe and welcoming for all members of the LGBTQIA+ community,” Biller said.

Anyone who makes a gift through June 30, you’ll receive a limited edition Emerson Pride pin!

There is also a full schedule of free virtual events throughout the month, including a roundtable discussion with Emerson LGBTQIA+ leaders of yesterday and today, film screenings, a look back on Emerson pride through the years, and more.
