News about Brian Basgen and Emerson IT

Dear Members of the Emerson community,

I am pleased to announce that Brian Basgen, AVP for Information Technology (IT), has been appointed Senior Associate Vice President, effective January 1. In addition to his existing responsibilities with IT, Brian will assume interim management of the division, which includes Media Technologies and Production “MTP” and WERS, from Vice President Bill Gilligan, who is retiring from Emerson at the end of this calendar year after 36 years of dedicated service to the College in various capacities.

Since joining Emerson in 2016, Brian has been instrumental in leading the College through major transitions, most recently with the COVID-19 campus reopening team. He co-led the development of comprehensive test reporting, contact tracing tools, symptom monitoring, testing appointment tools, and epidemiological data modeling, as well as supported the establishment of the COVID testing center, all of which enabled the campus to welcome back students in the Fall 2020 Term.

Brian also spearheaded the College’s implementation of Workday across the Human Resources, Payroll, and Finance departments; he worked with multiple departments to develop modern database solutions; and he oversaw a diversity, equity, and inclusion initiative for IT in support of improved hiring practices and engaged diversity. Prior to joining Emerson, Brian was Executive Director for IT at Bay Path University.

Brian and the IT area will report to Paul Dworkis, Vice President for Administration and Finance.

Please join me in congratulating Brian on his new role, as well as Bill, for his long and invaluable service to Emerson.

Sincerely,
Lee
