Update on Class of 2020 In-Person Ceremony

Dear members of the Emerson community,

While we remain committed to holding an in-person ceremony for the Class of 2020, it is becoming clear that we will not be able to do so before next spring.

Reopening guidelines set by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the City of Boston mandate that the City be in Phase 4 of reopening before we may consider large gatherings, and Phase 4 currently requires a vaccine or treatment for COVID-19.

It is our intention and hope that we will be able to hold separate ceremonies for the Class of 2020 and the Class of 2021 during the next Commencement Weekend, scheduled for May 8-9, 2021. We are continually monitoring the situation and will post updates on the Commencement website.
