Beacon: Biggest Voter Turnout for Student Gov’t Association Since 2009

Emerson College students showed up at the (online) voting booths for last week’s Student Government Association elections — increasing voter turnout by 230 percent compared to last spring’s turnout.

According to The Berkeley Beacon, 875 students voted in the April 3 and April 4 elections, with five percent of the undergraduate student population voting. The Beacon spoke with current Executive Treasurer Ian Mand, who attributed the rise in votes to having a joint ballot with Voice Your Choice, which also saw an increase in turnout.

Among the victors was current Executive Vice President Raz Moayed ’20, who was elected executive president while running unopposed.
