From the Dean of the School of Communication – Talk the Vote, November 5

Dear Emerson community,

This is a momentous year for politics in the United States with interesting developments making the midterm elections even more important now. With so many of our School of Communication programs and courses linked with politics and the many issues it encompasses, we felt it was imperative to provide the Emerson community with an opportunity to witness and engage with the process.

To accomplish this, the School of Communication has partnered with WBZ and iHeart Radio to host “Talk The Vote,” the traveling broadcast of WBZ’s award-winning evening talk show, Night Side With Dan Rea on November 5 (the day before election day) at 7:30pm. The show will be broadcast LIVE from the Bill Bordy Theater and feature prominent speakers to discuss the midterms, including Professor Spencer Kimball and students from Emerson Polling.

Students will have the opportunity to engage with Dan and his high-profile guests during the broadcast. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the political process, election polling and the implications of the midterm elections, which may change the balance of power in Congress.

TALK THE VOTE will be open to the public, and I’m already hearing that many classes are planning to attend, so you’ll want to get your seats early in the Bordy Theatre on November 5, starting at 7 p.m. You’ll be hearing more about the guests as we get closer to the event, but I would like you to start making plans to attend it!

Cheers,

Dr. Raul Reis
Dean of the School of Communication
