Kevin Bright Scholarship Fund Deadline Approaching

The Kevin Bright Scholarship Fund, honoring Emerson alumnus and Emerson Los Angeles (ELA) Founding Director Kevin Bright ’76, was established to support students in attending the ELA Program. A total of $10,000 will be distributed each academic year ($5,000 for fall and $5,000 for spring) to students who have been accepted for study at ELA.

The deadline for this round of funding is Thursday, November 15, and is available for those students who will be attending ELA next semester (Spring 2019).

The Kevin Bright Scholarship Fund Committee invites Emerson undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need to apply for funds in support of their study at ELA. Those students with a current year Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) submission that indicates an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $7,500 or less will be considered. In lieu of the FAFSA, international students must submit the Kevin Bright Scholarship Fund International Student Household Budget Form in order to determine eligibility.

To apply for the Kevin Bright Scholarship Fund:

Please send an email with your name and Emerson ID# to finaid@emerson.edu with the subject line “Can I apply for the Kevin Bright Scholarship Fund?” We will respond to your query within one business day. Please do not submit your application until you have received confirmation that you are eligible to apply.

Once you have been informed of your eligibility to apply, review the Kevin Bright Scholarship Fund application page for information about completing the required documents:

There is no specific type of expense that will automatically be funded. Possible expenses for which applicants may request funds include, but are not limited to: travel to/from Los Angeles, parking, rental cars, extracurricular programming, event attendance, and other expenses that would benefit a student’s experience at ELA. It is important that you clearly outline the purpose and anticipated benefit for the funding amount requested. Funds are limited, so applicants should present their submission professionally and with as much detail as possible.

All Kevin Bright Scholarship Fund applications and supporting documents must be received by the Office of Financial Aid no later than 5:00 pm on the day of the deadline. Applications may be dropped off at the Office of Financial Aid located on the 4th floor of 216 Tremont Street, faxed to 617-824-8619, or emailed to finaid@emerson.edu. Late applications will not be considered.

Applicants will be notified of the Committee’s decision by December 1. Funds must be used during the semester for which they were granted. Unused funds must be returned.

We are delighted to be able to offer the Kevin Bright Scholarship Fund and hope that many of you are able to use it to benefit your time at ELA!

Sincerely,

Ruthanne M. Madsen, EdD
