Students Showcase Stories Made with Mobile Devices

Graduate and undergraduate students in Jae Williams’ (’08 MA ’16) Digital Storytelling class presented their photography, video, and other artistic creations at the first Digital Storytelling Showcase, held at the Visitor Center on Wednesday, June 29.

Nearly all the works were created with mobile devices. Students in the class, the first of its kind in the Communication Studies Department, learned how to tell stories and express themselves in a fast-paced social media environment.

“The overall objective was to inspire and encourage non-traditional storytelling techniques, and to provide a different perspective of the world and surrounding cultures,” said Williams, who is also a digital media producer for Emerson College.

Digital Storytelling was offered during Summer Session 1; it will be offered again in Fall 2016.
