ELA’s Bright Named to Geffen Board
Kevin Bright ’76, Emerson Los Angeles Vice President and Founding Director, has joined the Board of Directors of Los Angeles’s Geffen Playhouse.
“I’m proud to be on the board at the Geffen, which provides amazing productions and educational programs,” said Bright. “Through producing original, quality works, the Geffen inspires thought, evokes conversation, and engages the Los Angeles community.”

best new play in Los Angeles for Jane Anderson’s commission The Quality of Life. Noted for its intimacy and celebrated for its commitment to the development of new plays, the Geffen Playhouse continues to present a body of work that garners national recognition. The theater was named in honor of entertainment mogul and philanthropist David Geffen, who made the initial donation to the theater.
Bright’s involvement with the Geffen grew out of his friendship with the late Gil Cates, who was the theater’s founder and producing director. Bright worked for Cates and his brother, Joseph, while doing variety television in New York.
