Nearly 700 attend Alumni Weekend
More than 675 Emerson College alumni, their families, friends, and faculty came to campus in Boston for the College’s annual Alumni Weekend, held May 29–31.
Several alumni set sail for the 2015 Alumni Weekend Boat Cruise around Boston Harbor.
In addition to celebrating the reunions for alumni in class years ending in 0 and 5, the weekend also held events honoring the milestone anniversaries for the Thayer Lindsley Program at the Robbins Center (50th); the Kasteel Well Program in the Netherlands (30th); the Swolen Monkey Showcase (30th); and the Communication, Politics, and Law Association (CPLA) (30th).
Highlights from the weekend including the President’s Purple and Gold Toast; the Alumni Weekend Boat Cruise; the family-friendly All-Class Alumni Lunch; the “Writing on the Wall” exhibit in the Iwasaki Library; Alumni College seminars; and the annual Faculty and Alumni Brunch.

The 7th annual WERS Hall of Fame induction ceremony honored Ken Brady ’85, general sales manager, Seven Ridges Radio; Dean Cappello ’83, executive vice president and chief content officer, WNYC; Sonia Rincon ’01, reporter/anchor, 1010 WINS; Rob Rudnick ’77, owner and president, Colt Communications; and the late Richard “Dick” Woodies ’50, president, LMI Woodies Associates. At the Alumni and Student Showcase and Celebration, the College presented this year’s alumni awards of distinction. Distinguished Alumni Award Recipients included President of Production at New Regency Productions Pamela Abdy ’95; President and CEO of Boston Children’s Museum Carole Charnow ’79; Senior Fellow of The Heritage Foundation Mike Gonzalez ’83; and Senior Theatre-Educator-in-Residence, Area Head in Theatre Education at Emerson College Bethany Nelson, PhD ’82 . The College’s Young Alumni Achievement Award will be presented to Flora Charner ’04 , writer, multimedia journalist, and producer (Al Jazeera America, The Guardian, UN Women, Narratively). The showcase also featured performances by Emerson alumni and students, as well as a special tribute to retiring Dean of Students Ron Ludman.
