Emerson releases Community PlanIt results

Emerson College officials have released a summary of results from Community PlanIt: Emerson UnCommon, the virtual game played by nearly 1,000 Emerson community members last fall that is helping the College in strategic planning.

The summary results are now available on emerson.edu.

Created by Emerson’s Engagement Lab, the Community PlanIt online platform has been used to aid in municipal and regional planning processes and outreach initiatives worldwide since 2010. Emerson UnCommon was the first time Community PlanIt was used by a college for assistance in strategic planning.

The purposes of the online game were to:

·      Gain broad community input into Emerson’s strategic plan, especially on questions related to academic excellence, civic engagement, internationalization and global engagement, and innovation;

·      Encourage community ownership of the plan and its goals; and

·      Inform the College’s planning and shape community conversation on how to best advance the plan.

One aspect of the Emerson UnCommon game was that players earned coins and could create campaigns to support campus initiatives and charitable causes in the Boston community. Learn more
