Softball has highest GPA in Division III

For the third year in a row, the Emerson College Women’s Softball Team has achieved the highest grade point average for a Division III softball team.

The Lions posted a 3.64 GPA, earning the players the top spot, according to an annual survey by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. It’s the fifth time overall that the Emerson softball team has earned the top GPA in its division.

“This is an award we’re very proud of. It’s an honor that our program takes as seriously as it does our work on the field,” said Phil McElroy, the team’s head coach. “Every year we strive to be a top five team in the classroom with an overall goal of being number one, and every year the student athletes work extremely hard to achieve that.”

The team has received the GPA honor in 2007, 2009, 2012, 2013, and 2014.
