Alumni nominated for Tony Awards
A Broadway play directed by Emerson alumni has been nominated for two Tony Awards.
Sheryl Kaller ’82 is director and Srda Vasiljevic ’14 is assistant director of Mothers and Sons, which has received two nominations in the categories of Best Play and Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play (Tyne Daly).
Kaller was nominated for a Tony in 2010 for directing Next Fall.
Vasiljevic gave the senior class commencement address at Emerson’s 134th Commencement on May 11.
Bonnie Comley, MA ’94, an Emerson Overseer and theater producer who won two Tony Awards in 2012 and 2007, is nominated this year for producing A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder in the Best Musical category.
Actor Andrea Martin ’69, who won Tony Awards in 2013 and 1993, is a cast member in Act One, which has received five Tony nominations this year, including for Best Play.
The 2014 Tony Awards will be broadcast live Sunday, June 8, at 8:00 pm EST on CBS.
