Mercutio Troupe presents The Yellow Wallpaper

Emerson’s Mercutio Troupe presents The Yellow Wallpaper at the Tufte Center’s Greene Theatre, April 15-16. The Troupe is an organization of students who perform all aspects of playmaking: acting, directing, designing, and writing. For its latest production, the group chose to adapt a short story written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman in 1892.

The Yellow Wallpaper was adapted for the stage by Ashleigh Drew ’12. It tells the story of a woman confined to her bedroom by her physician-husband and explores how the experience affects her mentally. The adaptation is part play and part movement, with five dancers playing the wallpaper, which comes to life when the story goes inside the narrator’s mind to depict her increasingly insane visions and imagination.

Showtimes for The Yellow Wallpaper are: Friday, April 15 at 6:00 pm; and Saturday, April 16 at 8:00 pm.

Tickets are free and can be reserved by sending your name, performance date, and number of tickets needed in an email to mercutiotickets@gmail.com.
