Parents Experience the Emersonian Lifestyle at Family Weekend
All parents are curious from time to time about what is happening in their college student’s life. The weekend of October 21–23 students were able to give their families a glimpse of the Emersonian lifestyle at Fall 2010 Family Weekend.
Micah Schweitzer ’14 said she was thrilled to have her parents visit during Family Weekend. “It was really great getting to visit with my parents after two months,” she said. “I’m proud of all that I am doing here at Emerson, and I was able to show them all the projects that I’m working on and take them around my new home of Boston.”
Family Weekend is one of Emerson’s great traditions. This year’s event schedule included activities such as Mini-College Sessions, Outside of the Classroom/Hands-On Workshops, The Family Weekend Showcase, Parents Leadership Council Updates and Open House, President’s Breakfast, a Parent/Student Quidditch Match and a Women’s Volleyball Home Dual-Match, and Men’s and Women’s Soccer Games.
Parents, little kids, and brothers and sisters came to the field on Boston Common, grabbed brooms and learned how to play Quidditch. Emerson Quidditch Marketing Director Ilana Berzon ’12 said, it was fun seeing moms’ and dads’ playing with their kids, and “watching younger siblings chase after the snitch was so cute. Everyone had a lot of fun,” she said. “Our snitch at one point, climbed a tree and later hopped on a bike on the field.”
