Emerson and Miami Dade College announce partnership

Emerson College and Miami Dade College (MDC) will enter into a partnership to offer MDC students the opportunity to continue their education and pursue a four-year degree in Boston. The president of Emerson College, Dr. Jacqueline Liebergott, and the president of Miami Dade College, Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón, signed the articulation agreement at a ceremony held on June 15, 2010, in Miami, Florida, on Miami Dade’s North Campus Science Complex Lecture Hall.

The articulation agreement will help create a seamless transition for students who meet agreed upon academic and admission guidelines to attend Emerson College after completing their associate degree at Miami Dade. “We’re dedicated to preparing our students to be successful at some of the best institutions in the world. Emerson College has shown its commitment to our students over the years, and this formal agreement further broadens the opportunities available to our graduates,” said Padrón.

Through programs such as the half-tuition Next Step Emerson Scholarship and a strong and growing Miami Dade College alumni network at Emerson, the partnership between the two schools has grown. Emerson and Miami Dade share a common goal: to support and encourage interested students to pursue careers in arts and communication—fields that should be as diverse as the society they serve.

“Transfer students from Miami Dade have embraced what Emerson offers and have become leaders on campus,” said Liebergott. “We’re excited about expanding our partnership with Miami Dade and continuing to extend the Emerson College experience to its students who share a passion for communication and the arts.”
