Independent Reviewers of New England awards get announced
Three Department of Performing Arts faculty members, one Emerson student, and three alumni were recently awarded coveted awards for their work in the Boston theater community.
The Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) Awards are given out by the Greater Boston Theatre Alliance in recognition of extraordinary talent and achievement. The 2009 winners were announced at an awards ceremony in April at the Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts.
Alumnus and faculty member Spiro Veloudos ’74 won for Best Director of a Musical for Kiss Me, Kate and Grey Gardens (Lyric Stage). Faculty member Jonathan Goldberg won Best Music Director for Grey Gardens and Kiss Me, Kate (Lyric Stage). Faculty member William LeBow won for Best Supporting Actor in a Play for ROMANCE (American Repertory Theater). Erez Rose ’10, Christine Busler ’09, and Mark Vashro ’08 were part of the ensemble in Dark Play (Apollinaire Theatre) that won Best Ensemble and Kate Donnelly MA ’02 won Best Supporting Actress (Play) for her role in Bash (Theatre on Fire).
