Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director for Popular Fiction Writing and Publishing Kim McLarin (James Baldwin’s Another Country: Bookmarked) is the author of three critically-acclaimed novels, the memoir Divorce Dog: Motherhood, Men, & Midlife and the essay collection Womanish: A Grown Black Woman Speaks on Life and Love. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The New England Review, the Sewanee Review, The Root and many other publications. She is a former staff writer for The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Associated Press.

Professor Pam Painter (Fabrications: New and Selected Stories) is the author of five story collections, the award-winning Getting to Know the Weather, and a recent collection Fabrications: New and Selected Stories. She is also co-author of the widely-used textbook, What If? Writing Exercises for Fiction Writers. Her stories have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies. Painter has received grants from The Massachusetts Artists Foundation and the National Endowment of the Arts, has won three Pushcart Prizes and Agni Review’s John Cheever Award for Fiction. Painter’s stories have been presented by Word Theatre in LA, NYC, and London, and also appear on artist Anthony Russo’s YouTube channel CRONOGO.

Senior Affiliated Faculty Peter Shippy (Kaputniks) was born in Niagara Falls and raised north, on his family’s apple farm. He is the author of five books, including Thieves’ Latin, winner of the Iowa Poetry Prize. Twice his work has appeared in the Best American Poetry series. Shippy has received a Gertrude Stein Award, two grants from the Massachusetts Arts Council, and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. He has taught at Emerson College since 1987. He’ll be reading from Kaputniks published by Saturnalia Books. About Peter’s work, John Yau wrote, “One day, not long ago, Meret Oppenheim walked past Edward Hopper in Paris, and an electric current passed between, and from that current was born Peter Jay Shippy.”
