Found Family February Week 3: One Piece

February 16 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm EST

Join Anime@Emerson in the Cultural Center on Friday, February 16th for our third screening of Found Family February! Our screening for the week is One Piece which will be followed by a group discussion.
One Piece is a legendary high-seas quest unlike any other! It follows young adventurer Luffy who has longed for a life of freedom ever since he can remember as he sets off from his small village on a perilous journey to find the legendary fabled treasure, ONE PIECE, to become King of the Pirates!
Anime@Emerson is Emerson’s only anime club! We meet every Friday in the Cultural Center at 8 pm to watch the first three episodes of whatever anime we are screening for the week. These screenings are followed by discussion questions, which we all take the time to consider. We carefully choose each of our weekly screenings according to a monthly theme. For example, this month’s theme is Found Family February so we are watching wholesome animes that involve the found family trope for the month of February!
Do you want a DISCOUNTED ticket to Boston’s LARGEST ANIME CONVENTION?
This week, Anime@Emerson will be fundraising for Anime Boston, which is taking place at Hynes Convention Center this March 29th to the 31st. In simple terms, Anime Boston is a three-day anime convention held annually in Boston, Massachusetts that celebrates and promotes Japanese animation, comics, and pop culture. Anime@Emerson sells our merchandise to students with the intention of raising money to buy tickets so that students may attend Anime Boston in a large group. At the convention, students will be able to attend panels and events such as gameshows, cosplay competitions, and even concerts.
Anime@Emerson is offering a special opportunity to all students interested in attending Anime Boston. Students that spend at least $20 (CASH ONLY) on Anime@Emerson merch will receive a three-day pass to Anime Boston. For reference, a regular three-day pass costs $105 — that’s an $85 difference! (As this pass will provide students access to all THREE days of the convention, we respectfully ask that students who cannot commit to all three days of the convention consider buying a ONE-DAY pass for cheaper on the Anime Boston website.) We will be selling our merch around 9:30 pm every Friday in the Cultural Center after our weekly screenings (8 to 9:30 pm) are finished. Please note that this opportunity will last only as long as our fundraising period, which ends on Friday, February 16, meaning that this week will be your last opportunity to receive a discounted ticket to Anime Boston.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to the overwhelming amount of students that have bought merch from us, we have decided to CAP the amount of three-day passes we will be giving to students that buy merch from us at 55 students. We still have quite a few spots left for people interested in receiving a discounted three-day pass to Anime Boston, however, we will be giving these spots to students on a first come, first serve basis with those who line up first to buy our merch and consequently receive a discounted three-day pass to Anime Boston given first priority. If you know that you would like to attend Anime Boston, please take notice of that and prioritize lining up early for fundraising.
If you are experiencing FINANCIAL DIFFICULTY or belong to a low-income community and do not believe you will be able to afford the requested amount of money for merch, please reach out to us at for accommodations!
We will be fundraising on the following dates:
• Friday, January 26 from 9:30 pm to 10:15 pm
• Friday, February 2 from 9:30 pm to 10:15 pm
• Friday, February 9 from 9:30 pm to 10:15 pm
• Friday, February 16 from 9:30 pm to 10:15 pm
If you have any questions, please reach out to us at!
