Film Screening and Talk-Back: Freedom or Death

Join us for a screening of the documentary film “Freedom or Death,” followed by a conversation with filmmaker Damian Kolodiy (Emerson ’99) led by Jim Lane, Emerson LA Senior Scholar-in-Residence and Graduate Program Director, Low Residency MFA in Writing Film & Television.
 
The award-winning documentary “Freedom or Death!” is an on-the-ground chronicle on how a civil uprising in Kyiv, Ukraine became a war with Russia that has had global ramifications. “The most detailed and shocking film on the events culminating in the Maidan Square battles. Ukrainian-American filmmaker Damian Kolody documented the violent insurrection from the streets, chronicling the extreme chaos engulfing Ukraine in a remarkable and intense narrative. With meticulous journalistic rigour; never before seen archival footage and candid interviews, ‘Freedom Or Death’ exposes the shocking truths behind this definitive moment in European history and provides background and context to the current Russian invasion of Ukraine.
